The Telangana High Court in the case observed and has directed the concerned officers of the Ranga Reddy District to conduct an enquiry and to produce CCTV footage with regards the accusation of a tribal woman being subjected to severe and forceful physical assault by the police authorities.
The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinod Kumar in the case observed and has directed the Government Pleader to produce diary entries of the incident from the appropriate Police Station.
The court stated that the respondents shall conduct an enquiry with regards to the aforesaid incident and shall submit an action taken report on or before the next date of hearing.
Adding to it, the court stated that they shall also produce the CCTV footage of the area as well as the Police Station, from where the aforesaid woman was picked.
In the present case, the bench registered the suo motu case which being against the State Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Director General, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Assistant Commissioner of Police and the Station House Officer after receiving communication with regards to an attack on the tribal woman.
Further, the said incident reportedly occurred on August 15, 2023, wherein the woman was allegedly subjected to physical assault by the police authorities. Thus, the said incident took place between L.B. Nagar Chowrasta and L.B. Nagar Police Station, where the woman was being hit, dragged, and forcibly
taken. It was also communicated before the court that she was currently undergoing treatment at Jeevan Hospital in Karimnagar.
The said court highlighted that the need to upload the dignity of women and condemned such actions in a society governed by the rule of law.
The court stated that the society governed by the rule of law, the dignity of woman at all the times which is being required to be maintained. Such kind of highlighted action, to which the reference has been made in the communication, it cannot be sustained.
Therefore, the said court was also informed that the victim had filed the separate writ petition with relates to the incident.
However, the single judge bench granted her liberty to refer the matter to a Division Bench.
The court directed the respondents to conduct a thorough enquiry into the incident and the report needs to be submitted before the next hearing.
Accordingly, the court listed the matter for further consideration on September 05, 2023.
