Senior Congress leader and candidate for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy, faced backlash after an incident where he reportedly slapped a woman who stated her intention to vote for the ‘flower’ symbol in the forthcoming May 13 election.

A video of the former minister’s action during a campaign went viral on social media on Friday.

The woman, identified as a participant in the rural employment guarantee scheme, found herself in a contentious situation.

The incident occurred in a village within the Armur Assembly segment, where the Congress candidate was campaigning alongside other leaders, including Vinay Kumar Reddy, who had previously contested the Assembly election from Armur.

Despite having voted for the Congress in past Assembly elections, the woman expressed discontent over the lack of pension benefits. Armur is one of the seven Assembly segments within the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat, where the Congress has nominated Reddy to contest against the BJP’s incumbent MP, Dharmapuri Arvind.
