Amidst China’s threat looming over Taiwan, recently the defense ministry of this island country has announced that it has spotted seven Chinese military aircraft and its five naval vessels around Taiwan at the local time of 6 am on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

As further revealed by MND, one of China’s military aircraft has crossed the median line of the Taiwan strait and entered the zone of Taiwan’s Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

Following China’s action, the Taiwanese army is now monitoring the situation and has deployed the combat patrol aircraft, naval vessels, and coastal missile systems.

Earlier, nine Chinese military aircraft and five naval vessels were detected announced Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter (Now X), MND posted “9 PLA aircraft and 5 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

This development comes amidst the time when Taiwan has already detected Chinese military aircraft 39 times. and navy vessels 21 times. Since September 2020, China has increased “gray zone tactics” by operating more military aircraft and naval ships near the country.

According to CSIS, Grey zone tactics refer to series of efforts which go beyond the steady-state deterrence and achievement of security objectives without the use of direct and sizeable force.
