What happens when three women are friends? And what happens when it’s three women who are stewardesses supposedly living a high-flying life, literally and figuratively? Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, Crew is a hilarious voyage about the camaraderie between Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon, and the con they pull.

Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor), Geetha Sethi (Tabu) and Divya Rana (Kriti Sanon) are air hostesses at Kohinoor Airlines, whose chairman is Vijay Walia (Saswata Chatterjee). Each of these women is quite different too – Jasmine loves luxury brands, Geetha wants to open a restaurant and Divya is studious but all three are similar in that they hail from the middle class and aim to make it big.

Like what we have seen in real life with numerous airlines, Kohinoor Airlines is looking at bankruptcy but the chairman’s Man Friday keeps telling everyone all is OK. But that’s far from the truth. Now, Jasmine, Geetha and Divya, who are facing a serious financial crunch, decide to take to gold smuggling to solve all their problems. And then comes customs officer Jaiveer (Diljit Dosajh). What happens next? Do they manage to pull this crazy scheme off?

As a film, this different heist comedy has a lot of potential given that it is helmed by three women but the movie is punctuated with flaws. The writing by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri could have been better but they manage to keep the film engaging with their funny one-liners and hilarious moments. The laughs keep us invested in the film but in the second half it starts to drag a little. Having said that, Crew is fun and a good time pass and the bumps don’t really matter.

When it comes to performances, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon make an impact with their characters. Tabu is the wise one who has an innate inner strength, while Kareena is high-energy and charming. Kriti Sanon is the youngest of the three and she manages to make her mark but it is Kareena Kapoor Khan who really shines in this film.

At the end of the day, this film is like a fun sisterhood of the traveling pants or in this case, fun sisterhood of the traveling skirts. Crew showcases how female friendships help navigate life’s curveballs and have fun on the way.
