Swiggy, a leading on-demand platform in India, has partnered with SHIELD, an AI platform focused on device-based risk assessment, to bolster its capabilities in preventing and detecting fraud. By leveraging SHIELD’s Device Intelligence, Swiggy aims to curb promo abuse and deter fraudulent activities among its Delivery Partners.

Dolly Sureka, Vice President of Assurance & Business Advisory at Swiggy, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing top-notch convenience to urban consumers. The collaboration with SHIELD has strengthened Swiggy’s Fraud Prevention and Detection strategies, allowing them to focus resources on genuine users while actively managing potential platform abuse.

Promo abuse, which involves exploiting platform discounts and incentives, is a common challenge for online businesses globally. Fraud syndicates often use app cloners and tampered apps to create fake accounts at scale, impacting user acquisition ROI and fairness for legitimate users.

Additionally, delivery partners may resort to deceptive tactics like falsifying their location to unfairly earn incentives. This undermines trust in the platform’s fairness and impacts their overall experience.

SHIELD’s device-focused AI platform has empowered Swiggy’s Trust & Safety team to proactively identify fraudulent activities and malicious tools used on the platform. Gautam Sehgal, Director at SHIELD, expressed pride in supporting Swiggy’s quest to set high standards for trust and fairness in the industry.
