Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP leader and leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, hailed Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday for taking into account his suggestion to offer train stops at specific stations in the state. Taking to X, he wrote, “I would like to thank Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for considering the requests made by the BJP Bengal MPs and MLAs on different occasions and providing stoppages for the Trains.”
Earlier, he had requested the stoppage of the following trains and said these stoppages would immensely benefit the local people who live around such areas “# 12827/12828 Howrah Purulia Superfast Express at Jhantipahari, Bankura district # 18616 Hatia Howrah Kriya Yoga Express at Suisa; Purulia district # 13147 Sealdah Bamanhat Uttarbanga Express at Kumedpur; Malda district # 12021/12022 Howrah Barbil Janshatabdi Express at Jhargram District Town # 13141; Sealdah New Alipurdaur Teesta Torsa Express at Dalkhola; Uttar Dinajpur district # 15047 Kolkata Gorakhpur Purbanchal Express at Panagarh; Paschim Bardhaman district # 13319/20 Dumka Ranchi Express at Pundag; Purulia District.”
Earlier on May 6 this year, Suvendu Adhikari accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of delaying a train during her recent visit to Malda and wrote to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw,  demanding an inquiry into the incident.
“I have written a letter to the Hon’ble Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, drawing his attention and registering my vehement protest against the deliberate disruption of passenger services of the 12345 HWH-GHY Saraighat Express on May 3, 2023, whereby a passenger, Mamata Banerjee, and her motley of associates hijacked the train to further her political agenda without any botheration for the difficulties being faced by the passengers and blatantly violating railway norms and disrupting the train running schedule,” Adhikari posted on X.
