Orders have been issued to suspend 372 Investigation Officers (IOs) of 13 districts in the police department of Haryana for not settling old cases. This order has been given by Home Minister Anil Vij. This would probably be the first case in the country when orders have been issued to suspend such a large number of IOs simultaneously. The reason for this is that they did not settle the one year old cases. When a notice was issued for clarification, the reply was not satisfactory, hence on Monday Home Minister Anil Vij issued orders to suspend them.
IOs include from head constable to inspector. Maximum 80 IOs will be suspended in Gurgaon, 66 in Sirsa and 57 in Yamunanagar. 3229 cases older than one year are pending. The Home Minister said that people are being pushed. The pending cases of the IOs who will be suspended will be handed over to the concerned DSP. If they do not dispose of them within a month, action can be taken against them also because Home Minister Vij has written in the order that all the cases should be given to the DSP with instructions to dispose of them within a month. If the case is not settled, action will be taken against those officers also.
Home Minister Vij said that last month I had ordered that clarification should be sought from all those IOs who have not disposed of the FIR in one year. The number of these cases is above 3229. Vij said that people are being pushed. Are forced to wander from one place to another. Going to other people and they are not settling the cases. This is a very serious matter and cannot be ignored. If the answers of 372 IOs are not satisfactory, orders have been given to suspend them.
Home Minister Anil Vij also holds the Health Department. But they are angry about this department. Because Vij does not tolerate interference from officers in his department. On October 5, CMO officers had held a review meeting with officials of his health department.
