Dengue cases are on the rise in Chandigarh, with the number of patients exceeding 250. Additionally, the changing weather patterns are making people more susceptible to viral infections. In response to this concerning situation, the Health Department has issued an advisory to the public.
Hospitals, including the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Government Multi-Specialty Hospital Sector 16 (GMSH-16), and Government Medical College and Hospital Sector 32 (GMCH-32), are reporting a surge in patients with dengue and viral infections.
To address this public health issue, the Health Department has initiated awareness campaigns at various locations in the city. They attribute the rapid spread of the virus to the fluctuating weather
conditions.
To mitigate these risks, the department advises individuals to maintain good hygiene practices, such as washing their hands before and after meals, and thoroughly cleaning fruits and vegetables before consumption. Moreover, individuals who have contracted viral infections are encouraged to avoid crowded public places and focus on consuming a nutritious diet, which can help bolster their immune system.
The Health Department has established a dedicated helpline with the number 7626002036 for carrying out fogging procedures. Residents can request fogging services in their neighbourhoods by contacting this helpline. Moreover, all hospitals in the region are equipped to conduct dengue testing, especially for individuals exhibiting symptoms such as fever.
