On Friday afternoon, a 17-year-old student was stabbed multiple times by a classmate at a school in Surat’s Nanpura area. The attack occurred in the classroom after the victim, a Class 12 student, was seen talking to the attacker’s ex-girlfriend during a short break. The victim is currently receiving treatment in the ICU of a private hospital.
According to the police, the incident began when the attacker approached the victim and a confrontation ensued. A police officer stated, “Things escalated quickly and the boy’s classmate began to stab him multiple times on his neck, head, and left hand.” When another student attempted to intervene, he was also struck, sustaining minor injuries.
After the attacker fled the classroom, other students alerted the class teacher, who then informed the victim’s father. The school authorities promptly took the victim to a nearby hospital where he was admitted to the ICU.
Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a complaint against the accused. The police have registered a case under Sections 118 (1) (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS Act.
A senior police officer noted, “The accused in this case is a minor and we will carry out the due procedure in such cases. The condition of the victim student is stable.”
