The Supreme Court in the case observed and has stated while taking the steps towards the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ community within the premises of the Supreme Court, under the directions of the bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
The Supreme Court mentioned as per the statement released that the Universal Rest Rooms are being created at different locations in the main building and as well as the additional building complex of the Supreme Court. Earlier, the court this year launched the online appearance Portal which is also made Gender neutral.
Further, in the case Senior Advocate Dr. Menaka Guruswamy has been inducted as the member of Gender Sensitisation and also the Internal Complaints Committee, GSICC.
The court observed that the queer non-binary lawyer, Rohin Bhatt had written to the Chief Justice of India wherein seeking LGBTQIA+ representation in the GSICC. The Supreme Court in the said proposal stated for broadening of the scope of the Gender Sensitisation and for the Internal Complaints Committee to Gender and Sexuality Sensitisation and that the Internal Complaints Committee is also done under the active consideration.
Therefore, the suitable amendments in regulations wherein keeping up the pace with the changing times and also for evolving the needs of the society and for the institution are being envisaged.
Further, the said landmark initiatives to revisit the modes of organizational and also for the spatial developments wherein it aimed at sensitization which is towards and for the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ Community for ensuring a dignified work environment at the Apex Court.
