The Supreme Court in the case Dr. Suneetha Narreddy v. YS Avinash Reddy And Anr observed wherein the plea was moved by Suneetha Nareddy, challenging the anticipatory bail granted to Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, who in the case is accused of murdering Nareddy’s father, Vivekananda Reddy.
The vacation bench comprising of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah heard the present plea.
The court in the case observed that Nareddy herself appeared before the Bench as it has been made clear that senior advocates will not be allowed to argue before the Court during vacations. However, the bench in the case allowed the counsel, Senior Advocate Siddarth Luthra, appearing for the petitioner in order to assist her. The bench in the case while observing the aspect of urgency stated that it will hear the plea
after vacations..
Further, the court observed that Nareedy stated that the accused, who is also her second cousin, was not cooperating in the investigation. At this point, Luthra reminded the bench that the investigation had to be completed by June 30, 2023 as per the direction given by the High Court.
The bench also pointed out that Mr Luthra! You cannot argue, only assist her as You will us in trouble for discriminating.
Therefore, Nareddy urged the Court to issue notice to the Central agency and to list the matter tomorrow.
The bench stated while allowing the petitioners the to file additional documents. Thus, Nerdy also seek permission for the AOR to appear online and that is not required as the court are hearing online also.
In the present case, YS Vivekananda Reddy, who is the of the Indian National Congress and brother of the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy was found murdered at his residence in Pulivendula in Kadapa district, in 2019. Therefore, the said case was initially probed by a special investigation team, SIT of the state crime investigation department, but was handed over in July 2020 to the Central Bureau of Investigation which in October 2021, filed the charge sheet and the supplementary chargesheet in January 2022.
Last year, In November, it has been directed by the Apex Court that the trial of Vivekananda Reddy’s murder to be transferred from Andhra Pradesh to a special CBI court in Hyderabad, noting that the apprehensions raised by his wife and daughter regarding derailment of a fair
trial were reasonable.
