Supreme Court Judge Steps Down from Hearing Manish Sisodia's Bail Request

Today in the Supreme Court, there was a change in plans regarding the hearing for Manish Sisodia’s bail request. Justice Sanjay Kumar decided not to participate in the hearing due to personal reasons. As a result, the court postponed the hearing to next week.

The case was supposed to be heard by a panel of judges including Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Karol, and Sanjay Kumar. However, Justice Sanjiv Khanna explained that Justice Sanjay Kumar had withdrawn from the case. Now, a different group of judges, excluding Justice Sanjay Kumar, will review Sisodia’s pleas to restart his bail requests related to cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the cancelled Delhi excise policy.

Manish Sisodia has faced legal challenges over allegations tied to the Delhi excise policy. Both the ED and CBI have filed charges against him. These legal battles have included attempts to challenge previous denials of bail at various legal levels.

Earlier, the Supreme Court rejected his bail request on June 4, 2024. The charges against Sisodia are connected to supposed issues with the design and execution of the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped due to concerns.

This case has drawn attention due to its political ramifications, especially considering Sisodia’s past role as the deputy chief minister of Delhi. His arrests by the CBI and ED in 2023 have further complicated the case, which continues to unfold in the courts.

Now, with the hearing pushed back to another panel next week, the outcome for Manish Sisodia in these high-profile cases remains uncertain. People closely watch this case as it could impact Delhi’s political scene.

As events develop, observers will wait for more information on what happens next for Manish Sisodia and how this may affect Delhi’s political landscape.
