The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna recommended the appointment of the judge of Delhi High Court, Justice Siddharth Mridul, as Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended for the elevation of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur as Chief Justice of Manipur High Court on February 09, 2023 and the same is currently pending before the Union Government.
It has been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium that Justice Thakur has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, thereby it is necessitating the fresh recommendation for the office of Chief Justice of Manipur High Court.
Justice Siddharth Mridul completed his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in the year 1996 and he has enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi the same year.
Justice Siddharth Mridul practiced law at various jurisdictions, which includes the Delhi High Court, as well as other renowned courts and tribunals.
Justice Siddharth Mridul was being appointed as the Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court in the year 2018 and he later became the permanent judge
in the year 2009.
