The Supreme Court in the case Amrish Rajnikant Kilachand V. Secretary General observed and has disposed of the Public Interest Litigation, PIL moved wherein seeking to limit the pages in petitions filed in Court.
The Supreme Court in the case stated that the concern of the Petitioner was laudable and the said court is of the view that it would not be proper to issue a ‘one size fits all’ direction.
The Apex Court in the case observed and has disposed of the plea while leaving it open to the petitioner to approach the Secretary General of the Supreme Court on any ‘concrete’ suggestions he may have for expeditious disposal of cases.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra in the case observed that the concern of the petitioner on the need for page limits on petitions in Court is laudable, it might be difficult for the Court to frame a ‘one size fits all’ direction. If the said petitioner has any concrete suggestion on the administrative side to facilitate expedition in the disposal of cases, the petitioner will be at the liberty to place a representation before the Secretary General.
However, the court stated that the same will not give any fresh cause of action.
Accordingly, the court dismissed the PIL.
