Sunil Gavaskar is one of the India’s greatest cricketers from the last century, he celebrates his 75th birthday today, July 10. He is Known as an all time great opening batsman, Gavaskar’s game was built on near-perfect technique and incredible concentration. He had an exceptional ability to judge the length and line of the ball, allowing him to play almost every stroke with ease.
Gavaskar was one of the legends among opening batsmen and dominated Test cricket, setting world records for the most runs and most centuries at the time. His record of 34 Test centuries remained unmatched for nearly 20 years until Sachin Tendulkar broke it. Gavaskar was also the first cricketer to score centuries in both innings of a Test match.
After retiring, Gavaskar took on various roles within the BCCI and ICC. Today, he mainly works as a media columnist and commentator.
