People traveling on government buses in Punjab may face significant inconvenience tomorrow as the PRTC Chandigarh depot employees have declared a strike. Additionally, the PRTC Chandigarh depot has been closed, leading to the suspension of bus services since morning.

The casual workers state that they had given notice to the management 15 days ago, outlining their demands, but no discussions have taken place with us yet. The casual workers claim that no action is being taken against corrupt officials by the General Manager of the Chandigarh depot. PRTC, Punjab Roadways employees’ leader Sahjpal Singh has announced that if our demands are not met by the management, we will block bus services not only in Patiala but also in other depots across Punjab tomorrow.

Employees state that drivers of kilometer-based buses misbehave with conductors, while the General Manager has taken no action. Employees also announced that if their demands are not met, they will protest outside the General Manager’s residence tomorrow. It should be noted that the decision not to allow more than 52 passengers on Punjab Roadways and PRTC buses has already caused inconvenience to people. Now, with the employees’ decision, those commuting to work may face additional challenges.
