The unprecedented ups and downs even before the actual voting in the UP urban local bodies’ election may make the Samajwadi Party have a serious re-look at its strategy for the next Lok Sabha election. On the one hand the party is not finding candidates to fight on the party symbol, on the other many of its prospective candidates have defected to BJP. Even the Congress has failed to find candidates for several seats across the state, even as its office bearers in Lucknow have joined BJP in big numbers. More than 4 crores voters will elect thousands of representatives in urban local bodies in UP on 4 and 10 May.
