State investigation agency conducts raids in cop’s house in Jammu linked to Hawala racket case

State Investigation Agency is carrying out raids at multiple locations in Jammu. The raids are said to be in connection with a case pertaining to hawala racket case in which former Congress Minister Babu Singh was arrested last year.

Sources said that in Belicharana area under Satwari police station, a team of SIA led by Inspector rank officer arrived today afternoon to carry out searches at the residence of a cop . The said cop is presently posted in Indian Reserve Police (IRP) wing of Jammu and Kashmir police and is posted in North Kashmir.

The case pertains to arrest of former Congress Minister Babu Singh in Hawala racket case in the month of April last year. Earlier, Arrested hawala handler Mohd Shareef Shah disclosed that he was tasked by Jatinder Singh alias Babu Singh to collect money from a person namely Omer from Srinagar; and after receiving money from Omer, Shareef came to Jammu but was caught due to timely intervention of Jammu Police. The module was working with help of local as well as foreign associates.

Two persons from Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) Javed and Khatib, Farooq Khan of Toronto, Canada and three persons from Jammu identified as Gurdev Singh, Sidhant Singh of Kathua and Mohd. Sharief Sartaj surfaced during the investigation. Md. Shareef is also admin of a secret WhatsApp group having members including but not limited to Pakistanis and Saudis.

It is pertinent to mention that the State Investigation Agency is a terror probing unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police that is investigating close to hundred cases of terror crimes.
