Raiza Dhillon and Munek Battula Break National Records at NSCC

Raiza Dhillon set a new national record at the 67th National Shooting Championship, scoring 122 to top both the women’s and junior women’s Skeet qualification. Munek Battula also broke the junior men’s record with a score of 123.

Haryana’s Raiza Dhillon made history at the 67th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) in New Delhi. She reached both the women’s and junior women’s Skeet finals. Notably, Raiza set a new national record with a score of 122. This score was two points higher than Simranpreet Kaur Johal’s junior record from the 2018 Jaipur Nationals. Additionally, it matched Ganemat Sekhon’s performance at the ISSF World Cup Final in Delhi.

In second place, Ganemat Sekhon finished with a score of 118. Along with her, Vanshika Tiwari from Madhya Pradesh and Yashasvi Rathore from Rajasthan also made it to both the junior and senior women’s finals.

Munek Battula Sets Junior Men’s Record

Meanwhile, Munek Battula from Telangana set a new junior men’s Skeet qualification record with a score of 123. This surpassed Abhay Singh Sekhon’s 122, which was set in the 2019 Nationals.

Men’s Skeet Qualification

In the men’s competition, Fatehbir Singh Shergill from Punjab topped the field with a score of 123. Although Munek Battula shot the same score, he came second after a shoot-off with Fatehbir. Additionally, two Olympians, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, made it to the final, each scoring 121. Mairaj won the shoot-off to secure the fifth spot. On the other hand, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, another Olympian, scored 119 and finished seventh.

Team Golds for Punjab

Punjab had a strong showing, claiming three out of four team golds. Specifically, Ganemat Sekhon helped secure the gold for the women’s team, while Bhavtegh Gill and Harmehar Lally won gold in the junior and men’s team events.
