IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Top Base Prices, Key Absentees, And Surprising Picks Revealed

The list of 1574 players up for the IPL 2025 mega auction was released on Tuesday. Along with the big-ticket names like Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who are all set to be released by their respective teams, have set the base price at ₹2 crores. Rajasthan Royals have also released two spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, and both have set the same base price.

Recently, even Mohammed Shami has been released by the Gujarat Titans who last played for them in the final match of the 2023 ODI World Cup. And even he has quoted his price to be ₹2 crore. In addition to them, several such names include Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan and so on even to some like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur are quoted for the amount of ₹2 crore. Umran Malik, who has been touted for his pace in IPL 2022, has gone for an opening base price of Rs 75 lakh.

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc, which was bought by KKR for ₹24.50 crore in the last auction, has listed his base price at ₹2 crores. Overseas stars such as Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Glenn Maxwell, and Jos Buttler have also opted for the base price of ₹2 crores. David Warner, who has retired from international cricket, has listed himself at the same price. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra has put his base price at ₹1.50 crores.

That excluded from the auction list is England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes. This is contrary to veteran pacer James Anderson announcing his retirement and including his name in the auction list with a base price of ₹1.25 crore.

The mega auction for IPL 2025 is scheduled on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. There are 204 slots open because each team can have a maximum of 25 players in their squad after retaining 46 players. Punjab Kings have the biggest purse at ₹110.50 crore.
