Brison Fernandes scored twice, leading FC Goa to a 4-2 victory over Odisha FC in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match on Saturday. As a result, FC Goa moved up to third in the standings with 25 points. They also extended their unbeaten streak in away games to seven matches. Moreover, this was Manolo Marquez’s first away win as FC Goa’s head coach. On the other hand, Odisha FC remains winless in their last 11 encounters with FC Goa.

Early Goal from Brison Fernandes

The match started strongly for FC Goa. In the eighth minute, Brison Fernandes teamed up with Iker Guarrotxena inside the penalty area. When Odisha’s Mourtada Fall lost possession, the ball fell perfectly into Brison’s path. He controlled it with his chest and then calmly drilled it into the bottom right corner, giving FC Goa a 1-0 lead.

However, Odisha FC quickly responded. In the 29th minute, Jerry Lalrinzuala was fouled inside the penalty box. This earned him a penalty kick. Notably, this was Jerry’s 150th ISL appearance. Ahmed Jahouh stepped up and executed a panenka-style penalty, catching FC Goa goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari off-guard. The score was now 1-1.

FC Goa added to their tally just minutes later. In the 56th minute, Iker crossed the ball into the box for Brison. However, Odisha’s Amey Ranawade accidentally sent the ball into his own net, giving FC Goa a 4-1 lead.

Odisha FC Pulls One Back
