Jay Shah, chairman of the ICC and secretary of BCCI, on Sunday visited Tirumala Tirupati to pray. Jay Shah visited the Tirumala Tirupati temple wearing traditional attire and performing rituals. The authorities of the temple made special arrangements for him during the visit.

This shrine is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, who is said to have descended to earth for helping the human masses successfully pass through the troubled Kali Yuga. It is hence also called Kaliyuga Vaikuntha and the deity is known as Kaliyuga Prathyaksha Daivam.

Earlier in the day, Shah spoke on the new National Cricket Academy inaugurated in Bengaluru. The BCCI officially launched the high-tech facility on Friday, considered a cornerstone of Shah’s vision to re-shape Indian cricket. It was renamed the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

Speaking at the function, Shah said, “Today, the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru opens its doors, marking an important milestone in our journey to elevate Indian cricket to new heights. This world-class facility, built with state-of-the-art infrastructure, underlines our seriousness in nurturing the next generation of cricketers and constantly advancing sports science. It will not only be a comprehensive hub for training and performance development in cricket but also be a source of developing sports science for the athletes of any discipline.”

He further said, “We believe in giving exposures and making pathways for excellence at the BCCI and this Centre is a testament to the vision of building a strong foundation for future sporting success. With these exceptional resources available to us, I am fully confident that this facility will be able to empower our athletes to compete at their best both on the domestic and international fronts.”
