Giving a strong message to the authorities on the 29th day of his fast unto death, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that he is completely fine and either the farmers will win or he will sacrifice his life.
Calling upon the agitators to remain united, he said, “I thank those who are cooperating in this front. Everyone has to fight the farmers’ battle together, only then victory is possible.” Dallewal made a special appeal to the farmers of Haryana and said, “In 2021, other states had expressed displeasure that Punjab ended the agitation early. But now we have decided that this time the agitation will continue till a law guaranteeing MSP is made. The elder brother of Punjab is in the field, now it is the responsibility of the younger brother Haryana to strengthen this fight.”
He urged the farmers to strengthen the night vigil so that the police could not dare to take him away from the Kanauri border. “There is a need to take a resolution to continue the movement strongly. Now it is the responsibility of the farmers to participate in it enthusiastically.” Dallewal announced that a program of ‹Punjab Bandh› has been organized on December 30. In this connection, a meeting of all social, business, cultural, religious organizations and unions has been called on December 26 at 10 am at Khanauri Morcha.
On the other hand making preparations for a long haul the farmers have pitched tin sheds at the Kanauri border. The move is being considered as an attempt to shift focus from Shambhu border to Khanauri border. Meanhile Hisar Bar Association has sent a letter to the Prime Minister in support of Dallewal›s fast unto death. All India Jat Reservation Struggle Committee and farmers› groups from Gwalior-Pilibhit expressed support at the Khanauri Kisan Morcha.
Even, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the central government of not talking to the farmers and said, “If Prime Minister Modi can stop the war between Russia and Ukraine, then can›t he talk to the farmers sitting 200 kilometers away from Delhi?”
Dallewal writes to PM Modi again
Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Tuesday wrote another letter to the Prime Minister, urging him to enact the MSP Guarantee Law based on the report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture.
In the letter he appealed to the prime minister to fulfill 13 pending demands of the farmers including the MSP guarantee law. Dallewal cited the report of the Standing Committee of Parliament and said that the committee has unanimously recommended the MSP guarantee law, which will strengthen the rural economy of the country.
He also reminded the Prime Minister that while entering the Parliament House in 2014, he had saluted the Parliament as the supreme institution. He urged that the Prime Minister should implement this recommendation while respecting the sentiments of the Parliament and the farmers.
Dallewal also clarified in his letter that his fast is not a formality. He wrote, “I will end my fast only when the MSP guarantee law is made.
Otherwise, I will give up my life at the protest site itself. Now it is up to you whether you will respect the sentiments of the Parliament and the farmers or wait for my martyrdom.”
