Harry Brook Withdraws from IPL Again, Prioritizes England Duties. Harry Brook has once again withdrawn from his IPL contract with Delhi Capitals, marking his second consecutive pullout. As a result, he could now face a two-year ban from the tournament.
Brook Prioritizes England Over IPL
On Sunday, Brook issued an apology to the franchise and its supporters. However, he emphasized that representing England remains his top priority.
The 26-year-old batter is a leading contender to replace Jos Buttler as England’s white-ball captain, alongside Ben Stokes. Explaining his decision, Brook shared his thoughts on social media.
“I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologize unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters. It is a really important time for England cricket, and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series.”
Additionally, he acknowledged the impact of his choice and further clarified:
“In order to do this, I need time to recharge after the busiest period in my career to date. I know not everyone will understand, and I don’t expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right, and playing for my country remains my priority and focus.”
England’s Packed Schedule
Moving forward, England is set to play a Test series against India at home, starting in June. Later this year, they will embark on a highly anticipated Ashes tour against Australia, scheduled from November to January.
Notably, Brook also withdrew from the 2024 IPL season due to the passing of his grandmother.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2025 season is set to kick off on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens.
