Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar lauded the impressive performances of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill during the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. On Saturday, Gill scored 119 runs off 176 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes, while Pant smashed 109 from 128 balls before being dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Gill remained unbeaten in India’s second innings as captain Rohit Sharma declared at 287/4. Praising the duo on X, Tendulkar wrote, “Loved watching @ShubmanGill glide his way to a hundred. And @RishabhPant17… looks as sharp as ever. Great to see both of them in such fine rhythm.”
At the end of day three, Bangladesh were 158/4, with Najmul Hossain Shanto (51*) and Shakib Al Hasan (5*) still at the crease. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah removed Zakir Hasan for 33, while Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets, dismissing Shadman Islam (35), Mominul Haque (13), and Mushfiqur Rahim (13).
India had resumed the second session of Day 3 at 205/3 with Pant and Gill batting on 82* and 86* respectively. Pant scored a century in his comeback to the longest format, while Gill remained unbeaten with 119. KL Rahul contributed with 22* from 19 balls. India declared at 287/4, setting a target of 515 for Bangladesh.
