“Cricket ICON for a Reason”: Former Pakistan Cricketer Heaps Praise on Virat Kohli

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has praised Virat Kohli ahead of India’s clash with Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Kohli’s resurgence in the last year, including finishing as the highest run-scorer in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and winning the Orange Cap in IPL 2024, has earned him admiration. Hafeez highlighted Kohli’s commitment to fitness as a key factor in his sustained excellence.

“Virat has not only set a standard with his batting, but also with his fitness,” said Hafeez, emphasizing Kohli’s transformation. “His fitness is the reason why he can withstand all the pressure that he carries on his shoulders,” Hafeez added, praising Kohli’s endurance and resilience.

Kohli’s impact extends beyond his performance on the field; he has also been instrumental in raising the fitness standards of Team India. Hafeez acknowledged Kohli’s dedication to maintaining these high standards even at the age of 35, commending his commitment to excellence.

“Even if Virat lets his Yo-Yo score drop from 17 to 16, or let his fat level rise from 60 to 100, it wouldn’t make a difference,” said Hafeez, highlighting Kohli’s relentless pursuit of greatness. “He drives himself to leave a legacy no one has seen before. That’s why he is an icon,” Hafeez concluded.

While Kohli had a modest start against Ireland in India’s opening game, he holds a remarkable record against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. With 308 runs scored across the years, Kohli aims to continue his success against Pakistan in the upcoming match on June 9.
