Bangladesh Defeats India by 59 Runs to Win U19 Asia Cup

Bangladesh won the U19 Asia Cup by defeating India in a low-scoring match. India suffered a 59-run defeat to Bangladesh in the U19 Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday. Despite a strong bowling performance, India’s batters could not chase down 199, getting bowled out for just 139 in 35.2 overs.

Early Setbacks for India

India’s chase started poorly with early setbacks. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored only 9 runs off 7 balls, while Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for just 1. As a result, India found themselves at 24 for 2 within five overs. Bangladesh’s bowlers capitalized on the situation by drying up boundaries and singles, which further limited India’s progress.

Middle-Order Collapse

Soon after, the middle order also struggled. Andre Siddarth made 20 off 35 balls before Rizan Hossain removed him. The situation worsened when Iqbal Hossain Emon took three crucial wickets in quick succession. He dismissed KP Karthikeya (21), Nikhil Kumar (0), and Harvansh Pangalia (6), leaving India at 68 for 6.

However, Mohamed Amaan and Hardik Raj tried to resist. Amaan scored 26 off 65 balls, while Raj contributed 24 off 21 balls. Despite their efforts, India could not recover. Finally, Azizul Hakim sealed the win for Bangladesh with 3 wickets for just 8 runs in 2.2 overs.

Bangladesh’s Solid Batting Performance

Earlier, Bangladesh’s top scorers—Rizan Hossain (47), Mohammad Shihab James (40), and Farid Hasan (39)—provided crucial runs. India’s bowlers did well, but Bangladesh still managed to reach 198. Yudhajit Guha was the standout performer, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs. Chetan Sharma (2/48) and Hardik Raj (2/41) also played key roles.

In the end, India’s batters failed to capitalize on a strong bowling performance. Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout, leading to a 59-run victory and securing the U19 Asia Cup title.
