Special Olympics football tournament concludes with India's success

The Special Olympics South Asia seven-a-side Unified Football Tournament 2024 concluded on April 19, with SO Bharat’s Female Football team securing third place and the male team securing fifth place. Bangladesh A and Bangladesh B claimed the top spots in the female and male categories, respectively. The closing ceremony took place at Bashundhara Kings Sports Arena Stadium in Dhaka, followed by the teams’ departure.

During their return to India, the teams were warmly welcomed by the Air India Crew, who celebrated and cheered for them. Virender Kumar Mahendru, Executive Director of SO Bharat, highlighted the athletes’ resilience and determination, noting their impressive performance at the Dhaka tournament as a testament to their dedication.

The tournament featured two teams, each comprising 11 athletes and unified partners, along with five coaches from eight states: Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Delhi.
