Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati have reached Karnataka to campaign in the state Assembly election there, leaving electioneering mid-way for the urban local bodies’ election in UP. Both parties are contesting independently, making the contest five-cornered in many constituencies. While Mayawati has stayed away from campaigning in the UP municipal election, Akhilesh has campaigned only in Lucknow, Saharanpur, and Kannauj. Apparently, the two leaders’ focus is on getting votes in another state to enhance the status of their parties. The BJP campaign is marked by rallies addressed by CM Yogi Adityanath, state ministers, and others.
