Srinagar — The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Kashmir announced on Monday the arrest of Ahmad Ulla Malla, a resident of Dalal Mohalla, Srinagar, in connection with an FIR registered over a decade ago.

Ahmad Ulla Malla has been apprehended in relation to FIR No. 42/2013, which pertains to the killing of four policemen in a terrorist ambush at Peer Mohalla Hygam, Sopore, in April 2013. Initially, the case was registered and investigated by the Sopore Police Station, Tarzoo. However, earlier this year, the case was transferred to the State Investigation Agency for a specialized investigation.

According to the SIA statement, Malla has been found to be involved in harboring, facilitating, aiding, and sheltering the terrorists responsible for the ambush. The arrest comes after the SIA conducted an in-depth investigation, gathering vital leads and incriminating evidence against Malla and other accused terrorists, despite the significant passage of time.

The SIA’s efforts have uncovered substantial evidence implicating Malla, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to ensuring justice, even many years after the crime. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation of the 2013 Sopore attack.

The terrorist ambush in April 2013 led to the tragic deaths of four policemen, causing widespread concern and highlighting the persistent threat of terrorism in the region. The transfer of the case to the SIA underscores the seriousness with which authorities continue to address such crimes.

The SIA’s investigation remains ongoing as they seek to bring all involved parties to justice. Further details regarding the case and additional arrests, if any, are awaited as the investigation progresses.
