External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his 2023 speech at Cambridge, where he portrayed India as ‘falling apart,’ questioning his motives.

In an exclusive interview with NewsX, Dr. Jaishankar underscored the contrast between Prime Minister Modi’s globally lauded foreign policy and Rahul Gandhi’s dissemination of falsehoods about India.

“Some people who consciously go abroad choose to criticise the country. In politics, I don’t have to praise you, but I don’t have to undermine the system either. I don’t have to claim that the country is collapsing,” Dr. Jaishankar remarked.

He criticized Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on minority rights in India, stating, “Rahul needs to explain why he makes certain statements. Perhaps he feels he lacks support at home and seeks validation elsewhere.”

Referring to Rahul’s visit to Cambridge University in March 2023, Dr. Jaishankar advised people to listen to the entire lecture, highlighting Rahul’s admiration for China and reluctance to criticize initiatives like the Belt-and-Road, which challenge Indian sovereignty.

In addition to critiquing the Congress leader, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized his own principles, expressing discomfort with the idea of conducting politics beyond the country’s borders.
