Social worker Krishna Gandhi passed away in Derabassi city on Friday morning at the age of 84. She was the wife of the late Comrade Master Kishori Lal Gandhi. Despite her recent illness, Krishna Gandhi made a lasting impact through her posthumous eye donation, facilitated with the consent of her son, Rajiv Gandhi. Her eyes were donated with inspiration from the Bharat Vikas Parishad, bringing light to the lives of two individuals even after her death.

The donation process was carried out by Dr. Rishika from Chandigarh PGI and her team, who arrived at the location to complete the procedure. The Bharat Vikas Parishad has been actively involved in promoting eye donations, and their efforts have led to 150 eye donations posthumously. To date, this initiative has brought light into the lives of 300 people.

The Bharat Vikas Parishad’s President, Surinder Arora, and Secretary, Hatinder Mohan Sharma, expressed their appreciation for Krishna Gandhi’s noble gesture. They highlighted the organization’s continued commitment to eye donation, which has significantly impacted many lives.

In response to Krishna Gandhi’s passing and her generous act, a number of officials and dignitaries gathered to pay their respects. Among them were the Council’s State Vice President Sushil Beas, Regional Secretary Somnath Sharma, MLA Kuljit Randhawa, former MLA NK Sharma, SMS Sandhu, Deepinder Dhillon, former Council Presidents Amritpal Singh and Bhupinder Saini, Basant Singh East Isapur, District Secretary Comrade Shamlal, Upesh Bansal, and representatives from various social service organizations in the city.
Krishna Gandhi’s final act of kindness underscores the profound impact of organ donation, continuing to inspire and benefit others even after her passing.
