Aftab Poonawala’s trial in the murder of Shraddha Walkar began on Thursday in Delhi’s Saket Court, where three prosecution witnesses, including Shraddha’s brother, gave their statements.

Shreejay Walkar, the brother of Shraddha Walker and the deceased’s next-door neighbour in the Chhatarpur neighbourhood, gave depositions as a prosecution witness before Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar.

Brother of Shraddha Walker, Shreejay Walker, informed the court during his testimony as the prosecution witness in the case about the events involving Shraddha and Aftab.

Kusum Lata, a neighbour of the deceased who worked in a hospital, gave the court information about the circumstances behind the relocation of Aftab and Shraddha next to her home in the Chhatarpur neighbourhood.

An auto driver named Manish Kumar Rathore provided testimony as the first prosecution witness in the case.

Delhi’s Saket Court slated for July 12 cross-examination of three prosecution witnesses including Sharddha Walker’s brother Shreejay.

Shraddha Walkar was allegedly murdered by Aftab in the Mehrauli area on May 18, 2022. Her body parts were thrown into the jungle of the Chhatarpur Pahadi area. He was arrested in November 2022.

The court had framed the charges under sections 302 and 201 IPC for murder and disappearance of evidence against Aftab, who pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
