Suspects Learn Shooting Through YouTube Videos
According to reports from the Mumbai Police, two of the suspects in the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, reportedly learned how to shoot by watching YouTube videos. The Mumbai Police shared this information with news agency ANI.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigations
The Mumbai Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case, while three others remain on the run. Several police teams have been deployed to locate the absconding individuals. The crime branch is leading the investigation and has recovered a black bag containing a 7.62 mm firearm, which is believed to have been used in the crime.
“The accused were provided with a photograph of Baba Siddique to identify him. The shooters had conducted surveillance on his residence and office 25 days before the murder. Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap learned to shoot by watching YouTube videos and practiced shooting in Mumbai without a magazine,” the Mumbai Police said, as quoted by ANI.
Arrest of Fourth Accused in Uttar Pradesh
The fourth suspect, identified as 23-year-old Harishkumar Balakram, was arrested in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of offering financial aid and coordinating logistics for the murder. His arrest adds another layer to the ongoing investigation as the police continue their efforts to capture the remaining suspects.
Baba Siddique’s Death
Baba Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital after the attack, where doctors declared him dead. His funeral took place on Sunday, marking a somber moment for the local community and his political colleagues.
The Planning Behind the Murder
The Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that the entire plot to murder Baba Siddique was planned in Pune. The police have recorded the statements of over 15 individuals, including eyewitnesses who were present during the incident, to piece together the events leading up to the murder.
Involvement of the Bishnoi Gang
The shooters involved in the murder claimed to be connected to the Bishnoi gang, whose leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, is currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. The murder of Baba Siddique has drawn attention to the Bishnoi gang’s operations, highlighting how the gang can orchestrate high-profile crimes from within prison walls.
