Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal revealed the establishment of a 15-member manifesto committee in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections during an announcement made on Wednesday.

As per details shared by SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema in a post on X, the committee will be spearheaded by Balwinder Singh Bhundar.

“SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced the manifesto committee of the party for Parliamentary elections. Senior Akali leader S Balwinder S Bhundar will be chairman and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema will be member secretary of the committee,” stated Cheema in the post.

He further elaborated, “The committee has 15 members and, in addition, six members have been added as special invitees.”

The distinguished panel comprises prominent party figures including Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Iqbal Singh Jhoonda, former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Bibi Jagir Kaur, and former legislators Bikramjit Singh Majithia, Sikander Singh Maluka, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Anil Joshi, Hira Singh Gabria, Pawan Kumar Tinu, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, and MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi.

In addition to the core members, six special invitees have been appointed, including Youth Akali Dal chief Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer, Istri Dal chief Hargobind Kaur, and SAD spokesperson Arshdeep Kler. The formation of the manifesto committee comes in light of the impending Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, with polling for the state’s 13 parliamentary seats scheduled to take place on June 1. As SAD gears up for the electoral battle, the committee’s task will involve outlining the party’s vision, policies, and promises for the electorate, shaping the course of their campaign strategy.
