After the Rajasthan High Court adjourned its hearing on Sachin Pilot’s case to Monday, it seems tables have turned against the BJP after audio clips went viral in which Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was allegedly conspiring to topple the Ashok Gehlot government. On Friday, the All India Congress Committee firmly stood behind CM Gehlot, while the BJP high command asked local leaders about allegations against Shekhawat. The BJP central leadership is shocked with the allegations and has started an enquiry in the case. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is taking a decision in view of his and the party’s image.

Meanwhile, Shekhawat said the voice in the purported audio clips did not belong to him and that he was ready was a probe in the matter. “It is not my voice. I don’t know which Sanjay Jain they are talking about. I know many people in that name. If I had talked to someone, my number should be there. You can conduct a probe. I am ready for an investigation,” he said.

Troubles have also increased for Pilot camp leaders Bhanwarlal Sharma and Vishwendra Singh. The Congress also took strict action against them, citing the presence of their names in the audios and suspended their party membership. Talking about Sharma, Rajasthan’s former speaker Kailash Meghwal said that he was not happy with the conspiracy of toppling the government. Also, two days ago, CM Gehlot said that Pilot wanted to topple his government by buying MLAs with the BJP. He also mentioned that he had all the evidence.

The Congress also took a dig at the BJP, saying the leaked audio clips proved Shekhawat’s role and sought his resignation. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters, “Two audio tapes surfaced last night on the so-called conversation of Union minister Gajendra Singh, Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma and BJP leader Sanjay Jain. The conspiracy to topple the Congress government is clear through the socalled conversation. This is a black chapter in the history of democracy.”

The Congress leader also said that an FIR should be filed by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police against Shekhawat, Sharma and Jain for the alleged conspiracy to topple the government.

Based on the audio clips, an FIR has already been filed against Shekhawat and, sources say, SOG may grill him in a day or two.
