Congress has suffered a major setback in Gujarat before the Lok Sabha elections as Arjun Modhwadia, Ambrish Der and Mulu Kandoria joined the BJP in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Gujarat BJP State President C. R. Patil.

Before leaving Congress, Arjun Modhwadia had strongly criticized the party’s decision, in which Congress announced to boycott the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha ceremony. Interestingly, even before Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra enters Gujarat, all three former MLAs are going to join BJP today. Earlier, former Union Minister Naran Rathwa joined the ruling BJP along with his son and a large number of supporters.

Arjun Modhwadia is the top leader of Mehar Samaj. He has strong support from fishermen, Koli, Dalit and OBC communities. Graduated from Morbi Engineering College in 1982. Arjun Modhwadia held the post of Assistant Engineer in the Maritime Board for 10 years. In the year 1993, he retired from public service and started working further. Joined the Congress Party in the year 1997 and entered active politics of Gujarat. In the year 2002, he was elected from Porbandar seat and became MLA.

Ambrish Der became MLA from Rajula seat in 2017. At that time, he had defeated BJP’s strong leader Heera Solanki and became MLA. Whereas in the 2022 elections, Ambrish Dar was defeated by Hira Solanki.
Let us tell you that in January this year also, a senior Congress MLA had resigned from the party. Then CJ Chavda has resigned from the party. Chavda was MLA from Bijapur seat. Before him, Chirag Patel, MLA from Khambhat seat, had left Congress. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, CJ Chavda contested from Gandhinagar seat against Amit Shah. CJ Chavda is also considered close to former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela. Congress won 17 seats, but after the resignation of three MLAs, the party is now left with 14 MLAs in the state.

After joining Modhwadia and Ambarish Der in BJP, BJP State President C.R. Patil said that people who say that victory cannot be won in the name of development, realize at the time of results that people want development. Modi chose 4 sectors. Women today trust Modi because he has given them rights. If anyone has taken responsibility for the youth of the whole world, it is Modi. 6 thousand rupees were deposited in the accounts of farmers. Opened the doors of assistance schemes for the poor and brought them out of the poverty line. Out of 140 crore people, 25 crore people have come out of the poverty line. Even developed countries feel that India cannot be stopped now. I started my political career with the spirit of helping people, but got disappointed and that is why people are joining BJP today, all are welcome.

Arjun Modhwadia said that since he has left Congress, there is no need to criticize but the whole country sees that the intimacy with the people has been broken. The situation is such that there is not even a strong opposition party in the country. I don’t need to say anything about leadership, these people need to introspect. Out of 182 seats and 26 Lok Sabha seats, 15 have been declared, whoever BJP chooses, I will support it with all my might. I am the kind of person who can write to anyone. No one can write my script. I have sweated a lot to build this house.

Moreover, Modhwadia said that people like us used to work with commitment. I held an important position for 10 years, yet I am indebted to Modi and Amit Shah for accepting me generously. I had no problem then and I have no problem even today.

Ambarish Der said that he has come to work in politics. My mother is not well, so C.R. Patil had come home. People from Rajula assembly area will also join in the next time. In 2004, Modi Saheb had honored me as the youngest municipal president in entire Gujarat.
