Following the irregularities in registries of the property by Tehsildars, Nayab-tehsildars along with other employees of the concerned department in Haryana, the officials, as well as other employees of the Town Planning Department, are on the radar after a District Town Planner (DTP) and a Tehsildar namely Vikram Singh and Rajbakhsh were caught taking bribes. Besides, the issue continues to remain abuzz across the state as several legislators in the ongoing assembly session of Haryana accused the officials of the department of being involved in irregularities on a large scale. In wake of the seriousness of the matter, the state government has come up in action mode and a foolproof strategy in a bid to tighten the noose around the neck of alleged corrupted officials which also added to the woes of close ones and colleagues of such officials. It is learned that the vigilance bureau is having a close eye on their relatives as well.
In continuation to aforesaid, it is pertinent to mention that several legislators took a dig at the department as well as the officials saying that involvement of senior officials in taking bribes is a matter of serious concern requiring the government to take stern action against them. In view of this, this department should be shut down soon. While in reaction, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal has announced to conduct a probe in such matters. Further, he said, if the name of any official in the breach of norms as well in corruption arises out, then he is subject to stern action. The grant of No Objection Certificate(NOC) by the Town & Country Planning Department is obligatory before registration of land in notified urban areas to stop ill planned construction. It is pertinent to mention that the Haryana government has set up the State Vigilance Bureau to deal with complaints pertaining to corruption against such officials. Further, the Vigilance Bureau has issued a toll-free number 18001802022 for the victim along with commoners to give information about the officials asking for money or other favour. It came to light around 600 calls are being received in the above toll-free number a day. What has stunned everyone is that a legislator namely Kuldeep Vats hailing from the main Opposite party Congress in the state said that a senior official of the department is extensively involved in taking bribes which is a matter of serious concern. Besides, a few other legislators also questioned the functioning of the department saying that the whole matter requires a transparent probe in the matter. While reacting to this, the Chief Minister said them to submit the evidence pertaining to their allegations so that the necessary action can be taken. Prior to aforesaid, the irregularities in around 65000 registries under the violations of Section 7A in state came to fore and the issue has become the talk of the town as the breach of norms has been reported extensively.
