In a significant political event, senior politician Muzaffar Beigh and his wife, DDC Chairperson Baramulla, Safina Beigh, rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Bijbehara graveyard on the death anniversary of PDP founder late Mufti Mohammad Syed on Sunday.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and other prominent party leaders, welcomed the returning members. Accompanied by dedicated PDP workers, Muzaffar Beigh and Safina Beigh paid homage at the sacred grave of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Darashoka, Bijbehara, creating a powerful and reverent atmosphere that honored the indelible legacy of the visionary leader.
Notably, Muzaffar Beigh, having previously joined the People’s Conference and later distancing himself from it, has now returned to PDP. Similarly, Safina Beigh, once an active member of the People’s Conference, has rejoined the PDP alongside her husband.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, also made a significant statement on the occasion. Speaking to media persons in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, Baig clarified that although he had been inactive in politics for some time, he never left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I didn’t leave PDP. I was inactive for quite some time, but I’m still associated with the party. The relation between me and PDP is like a single soul,” Baig affirmed.
Paying rich tributes to Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on his 8th death anniversary at his grave in Dara Shikov Anantnag, Baig expressed his deep emotions, stating that he misses the PDP founder like a son misses his father.
Addressing queries about his potential election as Lok Sabha candidate from north Kashmir, Baig humbly replied that it is up to the party leadership to decide and make the call.
In response to another question, Baig metaphorically emphasized, “A person cannot set a house on fire which he had built himself,” underlining his enduring commitment to the foundation and principles of the Peoples Democratic Party. The day witnessed not only political realignments but also emotional reflections on the lasting impact of Mufti Mohammad Syed on the PDP and Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.
