Seminar held on 'Africa the Next Frontier and Scope for India'

On the second day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2024, a seminar on ‘Africa the Next Frontier and Scope for India’ was held by the Indo-Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar was also present at the seminar at Mahatma Mandir.

Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar emphasised public-private partnership and said that “like Gujarat and Africa, Haryana also boasts a good combination of ‘Possibilities, Potentialities and Prosperity’ for development.”

He added, “Along with industrial development, we should focus on skill development, knowledge and technology, economic development, human relations and security. Today, the youth of Gujarat are becoming job givers rather than job seekers. Other states should also draw inspiration from and create new employment opportunities. ”He highlighted, that highways, railways, waterways, and airways are playing an important role in the development of Gujarat under the leadership and guidance of the then Chief Minister and present Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi.

Mr Ernest Nana Adjei, Minister-Counsellor, Political and Economic, Ghana High Commission, New Delhi said that “Ghana is a leader in the production of gold, lithium, oil and gas, manganese as well as agricultural products.” “Ghana has also made great progress in the field of tourism and health care. For prosperous states like Gujarat of India, we roll out the red carpet to join us in the development process.”

Lucy Margaret Kyogire, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Uganda, while mentioning the bright opportunities available in Uganda, remarked, “In our country, there are plenty of opportunities for growth in agriculture, food processing, fish processing, juice, coffee, dairy development, poultry, cold storage, education, mining and medical. in addition to the tourism and hospitality sectors. India should explore and move ahead in this direction.”

Dr Sunanda Rajendran, Secretary General of the Indo-Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IACCI) said that “keeping in mind the demand of the young population of Africa, there are bright opportunities available for development in infrastructure, industries, agriculture, dairy development, roads, education, renewable energy, and electricity, which Indians should benefit from.” Further, she gave detailed guidance on how India can become a partner of Africa.

The seminar was attended by the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to India, Dr. Desire Boniface, and various Leaders, and industrialists from Africa and India including, Corporate Advisor Suhani Prabhu, Brace Corporate Services and Member of Indo-Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IACCI), Pranaya Parekh.
