An Indian student has been reported missing in Chicago since May 2nd. The Consulate General of India in Chicago has confirmed that it is actively collaborating with local law enforcement and the Indian community to locate or establish contact with Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi.
In a post on X, the Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed deep concern regarding the disappearance of Indian student Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi, who has been unreachable since May 2nd. The Consulate assured that it is liaising closely with the police and the Indian diaspora in hopes of locating or reestablishing contact with Rupesh.
The Chicago police have issued a statement, asking people to contact them if they find Rupesh Chintakindi. According to the statement, he went missing from the 4300 block of N Sheridan Road.
In April, another Indian student who had been missing since March was discovered deceased in Ohio, as reported by the Consulate General of India in New York. They expressed sadness about Mohammed Abdul Arfath’s death and are working with local authorities to investigate what happened.
The Consulate General of India in New York expressed sorrow upon learning that Mohammed Abdul Arfath, who had been missing, was found dead in Cleveland, Ohio. They offered their deepest condolences to his family.
Arafat, who is from Hyderabad, went to the US to study IT at Cleveland University in May 2023. However, he went missing on March 7 this year. His father, Mohd Saleem, said that ten days later, they got a call from someone they didn’t know, saying Arafat was kidnapped and asking for $1200 to set him free.
Recently, there have been more sad incidents involving the Indian community. Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away in April, and the police are investigating.
Back in February, an Indian student was violently attacked in Chicago. After the attack, the Indian Consulate in Chicago said they were keeping in touch with the victim, Syed Mazahir Ali, and his wife in India.
