A private school’s principal has been detained in Amethi on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old  female student. According to the reports, the accused had brought the victim, a girl in class 11, to the school’s campus on a holiday so she could fill out a form and provide her aadhar card.

The victim told her parents about the incident, and they filed a complaint on her behalf. According to Musafirkhana police station SHO Amar Singh, the accused was detained and charged under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

In a similar incident that occurred earlier last month, the Delhi Police detained a 33-year-old man who was employed as a teacher at Delhi’s MCD School for allegedly groping and harassing a female teacher inside a metro station lift. The occurrence happened on July 7.

The accused is a resident of Kalyanpuri and has been identified as Rajesh Chand Meena.

According to Jitendra Mani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro), on July 7, a woman allegedly complained to the station controller about being sexually harassed.

“The accused had been harassing the woman for a long time. Information was received on Thursday from the metro station controller that a woman was molested by a person. Police reached the spot, where the station controller produced the victim and accused,” said Mani.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and the accused both previously worked as teachers at the same school. Around 1.5 years ago, the woman reported the harassment to the MCD department and police, and as a result, the accused promised he wouldn’t harass her again. According to investigators, he was later transferred to another school.
