A school cab driver in Delhi was apprehended for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl from the same school, according to the police on Tuesday.
“The girl attends a renowned school on Sansad Marg in Delhi. On November 3, when she failed to show up at school, her father received a message on his phone about her absence. He promptly informed the police, and based on his suspicions, he tried calling the cab driver, but the driver did not answer, deepening his concerns,” the police reported.
“The police received information about the cab driver’s location, learning that he had dropped the girl near the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and was attempting to flee. Then the police reached the scene and apprehended the suspect,” they added.
The police further revealed that the accused had sought to ‘befriend’ the girl. Initially, the girl used to ride to school in the accused driver’s cab. However, when she complained to her father about his inappropriate behavior, he started driving her to school. On November 3, as he dropped her off at the school gate, the cab driver, under the pretext of apologising, called her and forcibly made her sit in the cab, the police stated.
Subsequently, he attempted to abscond with the girl but was nabbed. Meanwhile, a case has been registered.
