Despite the initial perception of affordability and convenience in the visa application process, the non-refundable visa fee poses a significant financial burden. This is both disturbing and financially draining, especially as visa prices continue to rise every year.
Each year, a concerning number of Indian visa applications are rejected, shattering the dreams of many aspiring travelers. Out of 966,687 visa applications filed by Indians, 151,752 were rejected. India now ranks among the top countries with the highest number of denied Schengen visas. In the previous year, Schengen countries refused 1.6 million visa applications globally, resulting in a total fee loss of ₹1,172 crore. Other nationalities also faced significant rejections, with Turkish applicants seeing 169,514 visas rejected, followed by Algerian (169,514), Moroccan (136,367), and Chinese applicants (60,554).
Visa officials cite various reasons for rejecting applications, including ambiguous travel purposes, incomplete documents, and insufficient proof of financial means to cover travel expenses. Additionally, some applications are denied due to past visa violations and poor employment records. These factors contribute to the high rejection rates, making the visa application process daunting for many.
