J&K Peoples Conference President Sajjad Gani Lone made critical remarks on Monday regarding National Conference leader Omar Abdullah’s reported openness to working with the BJP, emphasizing that Abdullah lacks ideological opposition to the BJP or Hindutva.
Responding to questions about Omar Abdullah’s willingness to work with Atal Bihari Vajpayee,Sajjad Gani Lone asserted that there is no fundamental difference between Vajpayee and Narendra Modi in terms of ideology.

“Omar Abdullah’s issues with the BJP appear to be more personal rather than ideological. It seems that Mr. Modi doesn’t give him attention, while Mr. Vajpayee likely did. Hence, if anyone from the BJP ideology extends attention to him in the future, Omar Abdullah would have no hesitation in aligning with them,” Sajjad Gani Lone told reporters at a function in Handwara.

Lone also called for accountability of those who ruled J&K for over thirty years, holding them responsible for historical mis governance.

“I harbor no personal grudges. They have ruled for the maximum time in the last 70 years. The current situation is a result of their misgovernance, and they must answer for it,” he added.

Addressing new entrants to the Peoples Conference, Sajjad Gani Lone reiterated the party’s commitment to fostering development and restoring the dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our focus is on long-term growth through strengthening horticulture and tourism to uplift our economy. Securing sufficient funds for these sectors will remain our priority,” he emphasized. Furthermore, Sajjad Gani Lone affirmed that the Peoples Conference will advocate for equal treatment for the youth of J&K, ensuring their dignity is aligned with that of youth in other states.

“The era of emotional politics has passed; we should rather address issues concerning the common man in the upcoming elections,” he concluded.
