President Vladimir Putin asserts that Russia would easily win any ward that would occur in the present time. However, he doesn’t think it would likely happen.
But, the reason he thinks World War III isn’t a possibility is due to his confidence in his country’s military power.
During a public address, Putin said: “It would be hard to imagine that it would put the world on the brink of World War III because those who do it know that they can’t emerge as winners in that war, and it’s very important.”
Recently, an incident that involved a British destroyer ship in the Black Sea raised tensions between Russia and the west. As per Putin, Russia fired a warning shot with their planes dropping bombs in Britain’s HMS defender’s path.
Based on an article from AP News, this caused the British ship to an area along the Crimea which Moscow have claims over. Furthermore, the President said that a U.S. reconnaissance aircraft joined the British to provoke Russia.
Putin said that the statement served as a warning that if Western warships entered their waters, the military would be forced to open fire. “It was clearly a provocation, a complex one involving not only the British but also the Americans,” he said.
