The BJP has had a tough time selecting candidates for 14684 seats in 17 Nagar Nigam, 199 Nagar Palika, and 544 Nagar Panchayats as hordes of leaders past and present came forward with the names of their family members for the party ticket. Office bearers in the state BJP office had a tough time dealing with the documents, such as portfolios, biodata, and profiles, submitted for the attention of the top brass. The rush was greater since the Yogi Adityanath government has not made any appointments to posts in commissions, councils, boards, and other constitutional bodies. The situation in the SP, BSP, and Congress has been no different, since the possibility of making it in these elections is comparatively higher than that in an assembly or Lok Sabha election. Polling is scheduled for 4 May and 11 May.
