MUMBAI : A case has been filed against an individual who allegedly attempted to extort Rs 1 crore from the former chairman of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation’s standing committee in Maharashtra’s Palghar, police reported. The police registered an extortion case under Section 385 of the Indian Penal Code against Kishore Ambavkar based on a complaint. Ambavkar is accused of demanding Rs 1 crore from Prashant Raut between May and September 2023. The accused claimed to have provided information to the Income Tax department about the complainant and demanded the money. So far, no arrests have been made in this case.
