In the Panchkula district, the daily autocratic behaviour of owners and operators of private cooperative society buses is witnessing a concerning rise. Incidents of misconduct are becoming more frequent, with both Roadways employees and passengers experiencing unruly incidents regularly at the Panchkula bus stand. Instead of functioning as a central point for government buses operated by Haryana Roadways, the Panchkula bus stand is gradually transforming into a focal point for buses operated by private cooperative societies. Private bus operators have gone to the extent of establishing workshops and service centres right at the bus stand. Notably, senior officials from Roadways are closely monitoring these developments.
On a recent Tuesday, students from ITI Raipur Rani fell victim to this growing autocracy. While travelling from Raypur Rani to Narayangarh, female students from ITI Raypur Rani encountered misbehaviour, including being dropped off and mistreated by the bus driver and conductor near a petrol pump. According to the information received, after boarding the Atri Coach bus with registration number HR 68 C 7760 at the Raypur Rani bus stand, the students faced misconduct by the bus conductor and driver near a petrol pump before reaching Gadi Kotaha village. The students promptly reported the entire incident to the police by dialling 112. Upon reaching the scene, the police brought the students to Raypur Rani police station. The families of the students and ITI staff were also present at the police station along with the ITI staff. The families insisted on the presence of the bus driver and conductor, and after their apology, the matter was resolved.
