Lucknow Super Giants, during the IPL 2025 mega auctions, had signed Rishabh Pant for a record-breaking ₹27 crore. Delhi Capitals first tried to retain him using a Right to Match (RTM) card for ₹20.75 crore, but theLucknow bid of ₹27 crore ensured his signing.

This three-season contract will see Pant earning ₹9 crore a year. After taxes, however, his earning potential has shrunk drastically. The Indian government will cut down ₹8.1 crore for taxes from ₹27 crore in total, and leave Pant with only ₹18.9 crore across three years.

Injury and Payment Policies

If Pant does suffer an injury during the IPL, he will be paid the total contracted amount. However, in case of injuries before the tournament, the franchise is free to replace him without any payment liabilities except if the injury was suffered while playing for Team India. In such cases, BCCI’s insurance policy covers full compensation.

Payment Without Matches

Players who are hired for the IPL are paid fully, regardless of whether they have played a single match. The payment is calculated if the player voluntarily pulls out or suffers an injury during the tournament.

Pant’s journey now becomes richly enchanting following his accident in 2022 as this sets him up to lead Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025.
